This year, Halloween falls on a Tuesday, “witch” gives you an excuse party on a weeknight. The second most important thing behind costumes on Halloween is, of course, cocktails.

From bewitching cocktails to devilish sangrias, zero-calorie Sparkling Ice is a key ingredient and it’s in some of the cocktails listed here. So is fake blood and eyeballs. We have all the ingredients for a hideous evening of imbibing.

This is is your time to create some haunting memories for your guests, so get to it. And remember how to get to Carnegie Hall…practice first.

Bloodsucker

Ingredients:

  • 2 Parts Dark Rum
  • 1 Part Pumpkin Puree
  • 1 Part Intense Ginger Liqueur
  • 1 Part Sparkling Ice Black Cherry
  • Grated Ginger

Method: Shake puree, rum, ginger liqueur and grated ginger over ice and pour into goblet. Add Sparkling Ice Black Cherry and garnish with ginger root “tombstone.”

Zombie Slime

Ingredients:

Method: Reduce one cup of Sparkling Ice Black Raspberry with two tablespoons of white sugar into thick syrup – drizzle over both interior & exterior of cocktail glass. Chill whiskey and Sparkling Ice Kiwi Strawberry and garnish with 2 kiwi “eyes”.

Seven Deadly Sins Sangria

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Apple, sliced
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1/2 pear, sliced
  • Cinnamon Stick
  • 1 bottle red wine
  • 1/2 cup Brandy
  • 1 cup Sparkling Ice Tangerine

Method: Cut fruit into equal sizes and place in pitcher with the cinnamon stick. Pour in the bottle of wine, bourbon, and Sparkling Ice Tangerine over fruit. Gently stir to combine. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for three hours, up to two days. Serve cold over ice.

The Necromancer

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz pecan infused bourbon
  • 3/4 oz Hochstadter’s “Slow & Low” Rock & Rye
  • 1/2 oz El Maestro Sierra, 15 year Oloroso Sherry
  • 3/4 oz Creme de cocoa
  • 3/4 oz lemon juice

Method: Combine all ingredients in a mixing pitcher with ice and stir for  30 seconds. Strain into a small rocks glass. Garnish with an orange peel “flower” and an Amarena cherry on a bamboo skewer.

Inspired by the image of a dark wizard, a Necromancer if you will,  standing in a graveyard on a rainy, dreary fall day. The smell of wet earth and fallen leaves mingle with the faint hint of smoke in the air as his twisted magic coaxes a long dead corpse from the ground.  Somehow alive but certainly not well.

The Freddy Kruger

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz Del Amigo Mezcal
  • .75 oz Ginger Liqueur
  • .25 oz Honey Simple
  • .5 oz Lemon Juice
  • 4 Dashes of Hot Sauce

Method: Combine all ingredients in shaker; Shake with ice; Serve up. Garnish: Lemon Twist

‘Twang Bloody Orange Austin Eastciders Cocktail’ Rimmed with Golden Roar Twang-A-Rita

Ingredients:

  • ¾ lime juice
  • 1 oz tequila
  • ¾ oz blood orange Italian soda
  • Austin Eastciders

Method:  Dry shake to emulsify. Pour over ice in a tall Collins glass. Top with Austin Eastciders Blood Orange Cider.

Black Magic

Ingredients:

  • 1.5oz. Plantation pineapple rum
  • .75oz Jagermeister
  • .5oz Tarnished Truth Bourbon Mash Moonshine
  • .5oz fresh lime juice
  • .25oz Demerara
  • 1 dash ginger bitters
  • 1 dash of charcoal powder
  • Topped with fresh whipped cream and orange zest

Created by Hunt Room Bartender Matt Sopata. Hunt Room is a prohibition-era speakeasy located at the historic Cavalier Hotel, Virginia Beach, Virginia. This drink uses Tarnished Truth, the adjacent distillery’s Ghost Bourbon Mash Moonshine, making it extra spirited for Halloween.

‘Twang Witch’s Brew’ Rimmed with Twang-A-Rita Unwind Lime

Ingredients:

  • 1 quart Lime sherbert
  • 12oz can frozen limeade concentrate
  • 1 Liter 7UP
  • 2 cups Vodka
  • Gummy eyeballs

Instructions: Scoop lime sherbet into a punch bowl. Pour in 7UP and frozen limeade concentrate. Stir in Vodka. Serve in glasses rimmed with Twang-A-Rita Unwind Lime. Garnish with gummy eyeballs.

Black Magic Punch

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup ice
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1 ½ ounces black vodka
  • ½ ounce triple sec
  • Orange wedge, for garnish

Method: In a cocktail shaker, add orange juice and triple sec over ice. Shake well, and strain into a glass. Using the back of a spoon, pour the black vodka slowly into the glass so that the vodka sits atop the OJ & Triple Sec mix. Carefully dip one edge of the orange wedge into the vodka for a spooky presentation, and sit the wedge on the rim of the glass. Serve!

‘Twang Dia De Los Muertos Michelada’ w/ Michelada Beer Salt:

Ingredients:

  • 1 Lime
  • 4 oz Clamato Mix
  • 1 Dash Worestershire
  • 2 Dashes Tabasco
  • 1 12oz Beer
  • Ice (as needed)
  • 1 Lime Wedge Garnish

Method: Rim a glass with Michelada Beer Salt. In a shaker with ice combine, lime juice, clamato, worcestershire sauce and hot sauce. Shake well to chill. Pour in class with ice; fill with beer.  Add lime wedge for garnish.

Bourbon Pumpkin Pie Milkshake

Ingredients (for two cocktails):

  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup cream or half and half
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup pureed pumpkin
  • 1/2 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/3 cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 2-3 ounces of bourbon
  • frosting and sprinkles, for glasses

Method: Add all ingredients to a blender and mix until combined. Rim glasses with a light coating of frosting then dip in sprinkles. Pour in shake and sprinkle cinnamon on top. Top with whipped cream, if desired. Serve!

Zombie Slime Martini Shooters

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz. vodka
  • 1 oz. peach schnapps
  • 1 oz.  sour apple schnapps
  • 1 oz. coconut rum
  • 1 oz. sweet and sour mix
  • Ingredients for Blood Slime:
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon red food coloring

Method for Blood Slime Rim: Mix three tablespoons of corn syrup with ¼ teaspoon of red food coloring. Dip the rim of each cocktail glass into the mixture, and slowly spin the glass to coat it. Turn the glass upright and the blood will begin to drip slightly.Set Aside.

Method for Martini Shooter: Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes. Shake well and pour over ice cubes into a martini glass.

Black Widow Shot

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ oz. black vodka, very cold
  • ½ oz. chilled cranberry juice

Method: Fill a small cocktail glass with ice. Rim a shot glass with red sugar crystals. Pour cranberry juice over ice, shake well and strain into shot glass. Gently layer black vodka over juice. Garnish with a cherry and serve.
