Lunchbox Laboratory – Seattle

Ever find a burger on the menu that you actually didn’t want to edit? You know, add something from this burger, remove something from that burger to make your own personal burger? Lunchbox Laboratory lets you play with their menu and you get to let your creative food juices flow. You can make almost any kind of burger you can dream of and some you probably never thought of or considered.  A favorite in my family is the Truffle Love (yes, I know you are shocked by this – well I am not the only one who likes truffle anything).  I love getting their turkey sandwich with their house made BBQ sauce and Swiss cheese.  If you love to dip your fries in something other than ketchup they have you covered, grab a side of truffle sauce, BBQ, ranch, or if you dare, Satan’s Tears.  They have a few locations throughout the Pacific NW, the Seattle one has a great fire pit outside and a Rumpus room that you can rent out for parties.  Old school Arcade games anyone?  Not in the mood for a burger? No problem! Grab one of their boozy shakes, might I suggest the Malt Ball shake with a vanilla vodka test tube shot!

If you’re in to the Farm to Fork movement you have to try Local Burger in Bellevue – they focus on local items and strive to have 90% of all items that they serve, make, and use – including the spirits, beer and wine – sourced within 360 miles of the restaurant.  They are a scratch kitchen burger joint that makes everything by hand.  Their burgers are inventive, taste fresh, and are made with grass fed, corn finish beef. You can definitely taste the difference.  They have more than just burgers though, they have salads that will make you forget you are even in a burger place.  I can’t talk about a burger place and not talk about their hand cut fries, they are so good and fresh you can’t just eat one.  Their seating allows you to bring all your friends to enjoy good food and conversation without feeling like you just took over the entire place.   Finish with their PB&J bon bons with milk – it’s a fun way to end at Local Burger regardless of whether you had a burger or a salad or both!

8oz Burger – Cap Hill
8oz Burger 1 drinkmemag.com drink me best burgers in seattle

Right on the main drag of Broadway in Capitol Hill sits this fun quirky burger joint.  8oz burger is fun spot for lunch or dinner! Their menu is great because while they have great artfully crafted burgers on their menu you can also build your own with any combination you want.  All of their burgers come from 100% NW grass fed beef sourced in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.  8oz isn’t shy with their use of Truffle either so just ask for it, their Truffle Garlic Fries bring together a nostalgic Safeco Garlic Fries that you get at the ballpark with the sophistication of Truffle all in an enjoyable little basket in a burger joint.  Love a good plate of Poutine? You don’t be disappointed they have a side dish and a burger you can order to satisfy even your biggest poutine craving.  They also have a great bar fully loaded with spirits, beer, and wine for your liking.  Check out their website for the burger of the month as well as check out their other location in Ballard. You won’t leave hungry or thirsty!

Red Mill – Fremont

Looking for a no frills no glitz burger joint that takes you back to the good old days of burger eating? Then Red Mill is your place. This place is all about the standard burger, simple toppings, great French fries, and milk shakes. This is what a classic burger joint should be about. With Fresh ingredients you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Take a moment and enjoy your fries with a tub-o-tarter sauce — you won’t be sorry. They have a great outside patio seating area that patrons can enjoy on the nice sunny days of Seattle. A few call outs: this place is a local favorite and is usually packed so come with enough time to enjoy your burger; they only take Cash/Check (sorry no credit/debit at this time); and the oil they use is Peanut oil so if you have an allergy this would be a place to avoid. You’ll want to eat up because the fries and onion rings are amazing.

Tipsy Cow – Redmond

Tucked in downtown Redmond, Tipsy Cow is a local favorite for burgers. Tipsy Cow is great for burger eaters of all ages with any pallet. This is the place you can go to alone or bring in a group, no matter the size of your party you will have a blast. You can get a classic burger called the Tipsy Burger or you can choose from one of several Tipsy Concoctions they have cooked up. In the mood for a beer with that burger – hardest decision you will make is picking which from the over 30 beers they have on tap. I recommend getting the truffle fries as your side, they are great! Not in the mood for a burger? It’s ok, try one of their sides – maple bacon, pig tails (panko breaded pork shoulder), I can’t leave out the Chicken Wings you can go sweet or hot! Finish your meal up with any one of their shakes and for kicks make it boozy! I mean who doesn’t love an adult Creamsicle with Vanilla Vodka in it?
