If you’ve never heard of Geodesy wines, the most important thing you need to know is that the company was founded with a purpose: to support young women in agriculture.

After having established and run an award-winning sparkling wine company — J Vineyards & Winery — for 30 years, Judy Jordan decided to make sure the next generation had their own opportunities, and plenty of encouragement along their journeys. This is where Geodesy’s profits go. Geology + Odyssey = Geodesy.

Geodesy does produce wines in several different US regions. The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa’s Sage Ridge Vineyard has light aromas and a refined body and texture. Bramble is mixed in with purple and dark red fruits, along with fine tannins and bright acidity that lasts through the long finish. Structurally, it holds its own on the palate, and can be expected to age well for some years. With its Bordeaux-style blend, the wine asks to be paired with food. Such as prime rib, for special occasions.
