Tucked away in the picturesque streets of Pimlico, boutique bed and breakfast Georgian House provides the perfect place to stay when exploring the realms of London.
Built in 1851, under the instruction of Thomas Cubitt, by hotel partner Serena von der Heyde’s great-great-grandfather William Chinnery Mitchell, Georgian House has been a family treasure for more than 160 years. Serena took over the running of Georgian House when she was just 19 years old and the hotel had two stars and only 28 guest bedrooms. Today, this elegant Grade II-listed property is proud of its five-star guest accommodation status, awarded by Visit England, and its 60 individually-designed guest rooms.
Stylishly integrating contemporary townhouse chic with original Victorian features, thoughtful design touches and unique rooms, Georgian House strives to offer each guest a bespoke experience. The hotel is perfect for families, corporate travellers and residents looking to enjoy breakfast and afternoon tea. The hotel offers children’s kits on request that include a baby bath, sippy cups, Lego sets and face painting sets.
The hotel’s quaint Pimlico Pantry is the perfect setting to enjoy a quintessentially English breakfast and afternoon tea. Winner of Visit England’s Breakfast Award for the third year running, the hotel is renowned for its delectable and locally-sourced breakfasts including the traditional full English ‘Mini Georgian’ designed for children and consisting of fried quail eggs, cherry tomatoes and cocktail sausages. Afternoon tea offers a selection of sandwiches, homemade scones with strawberry and gooseberry jam and clotted cream, a Ploughman’s scone with chutney and a range of delicate fresh cakes with a choice of teas, coffee or hot chocolate on offer. Available every day from 2.30pm to 5pm for just £20 per person. Guests can end their evening with a nightcap in the hotel’s dedicated bar, serving local wines, spirits and ales.
Three years ago, the hotel extended its guestroom offering with the addition of the Wizard Chambers and Enchanted Chambers, aimed at guests who have grown up reading sorcery-inspired stories that transport readers to magical worlds. Each room offers an atmospheric escape with gothic style features, cauldrons, potion bottles and ancient leather bound books.
Georgian House is perfectly placed for visiting London’s big sights such as Buckingham Palace, Harrods, the Houses of Parliament and The National Gallery. Lesser-known spots to discover can be found at Play in Pimlico on the website.
