Four Roses Distillery has released their latest small batch limited edition bourbon. Crafted by master distiller Brent Elliot there are only 3,000 bottles available around Europe. Talk about exclusive. Four Roses has a decidedly unique approach to bourbon distilling. They are, in fact, the only distillery that can combine 5 proprietary yeast strains with two separate mashbills to produce 10 distinct recipes. This small batch limited edition features 3 of those (a 13 and 15-year-old from the distillery’s ‘OESK’ recipe, plus a 12-year-old from its ‘OESV’ recipe). At 53.9% abv this bourbon is remarkably balanced, with warm aromas, hints of allspice, and notes of vanilla bean that mingle with apricot and stewed fruits. On the palate it’s fruity and vibrant, bright raspberry and maraschino cherry with light oak fill the senses and the resulting long finish is sweet, with brown sugar and hints of cinnamon. Mingling bourbons is an art form, much like mixing paint or composing a symphony and with this limited edition small batch Four Roses proves they are masters. With creamy mouth feel, and delicate but lasting flavor this bourbon offers just the right amount of everything. A perfect bourbon balancing act. You can enjoy it straight up or on the rocks with a splash. Either way, I guarantee you’ll enjoy it.
