There’s very little not to love about this wine, it’s got character aplenty coupled with a clear dynamism and clarity on both the palate and nose. I was first struck by just how good the Fuse team is when I tried their delightful Black Pig ‘The Prize’ Shiraz, an absolutely world class wine and this blend is every bit as good.

The bouquet is intense, drawing on one’s senses like a veritable leech: deep, rich and smoky, with punchy red berries and subtle vanilla. In the mouth more of the same, as luscious sweet red fruit and tarte dark stone fruit exude their powerful flavours putting one’s tastebuds through an oral assault course for what seems an eternity, which is most pleasurable. The steely, granite like earthiness carries through from the Grenache beautifully, with the softer more dulcet like tones of the Shiraz playing a most pivotal and welcoming role.

Full bodied, with a linear acidity, pronounced aroma and flavour intensity and a persistent, lengthy finish. The perfect partner in crime to a dry-aged rib eye steak and fresh horseradish sauce or any barbecued meats, the smokier the better! Decant for best results and serve at 18-20’c.
