Bodegas Urbina is a small, organic, traditional, and family-owned Rioja wine estate. They have been growing grapes and making their classic wines since 1870. And, it’s safe to say they are experts in their field. Their 1999 Seleccion is a prime example of the quality, flavors, and history of this region. Alluring and oxidative, this is a product of old-school style.

The wine is aged for at least 15 months in oak casks, and it’s made from a selection of only the very best Tempranillo grapes from vines averaging 40+ years old. Seleccion is remarkably aromatic. Concentrated and dark on the nose with berries, damsons, and figs, while on the palate there are notes of rich fruit cake and savory vanilla, with nicely knit tannins, relevant fruitiness and a long-lasting finish. Well-structured and mellow, one sip and you won’t believe it’s 19 years old! In the glass, this wine is a rich, dark red and has all the decadence and classic flavor drinkers love about a good red. So, have a glass and let Urbina show you what Rioja can do!
